CORBET N. JONES

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 310 FM 83 East in Broaddus, Texas, with Bro. Don Lofton and Bro. Gerald W. Sowell officiating. VFW and American Legion members will present military honors. The family will begin receiving family and friends at 10:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.

Mr. Corbet Nicholos Jones was born July 22, 1950, to Charlie and Reba (Eddins) Jones in Center, Texas.

On Oct. 23, 2023, he was released from this worldly body to a new realm of an eternal and glorious existence in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Corbet accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1976.

Corbet lived in the Broaddus area most of his life. He started school in Broaddus with Mr. K.P. Jeanes having to drag him from his older brother Kenneth's room and take him back to his class. He graduated in May 1968 and hated every day of his 12 years of school.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was inducted on Nov. 22, 1968. He was at Fort Polk, La., U.S. Army Training Center/Infantry. He received orders to ship to Vietnam. His brother, Kenneth, was already in Vietnam and advised him to inform his commanding officer of the situation. He was then stationed at Camp Paine, Korea, which was a hardship tour. He guarded the DMZ and advanced to Gunner on a 105 MM towed howitzer shooting illumination rounds across the DMZ. He was released from active duty June 25, 1970, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 1, 1974, after completing reserve duty.

He met Margie Bryan in 1972. They married May 16, 1973, in Pineland, Texas, with Jerry Don and Jeannie Stanely as witnesses. They traveled many pipeline miles together with sons Shane and Chad and friends Johnny and Lenora Hinson and daughters Julie and Carla.

Corbet is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margie Bryan Jones; sons, Shane Bryan and wife Kimberly and Chad Jones and wife Wendy; grandsons, Matthew Bryan, Carson Jones, and Connor Jones; granddaughter, Ashlyn Bryan; brothers, Kenneth Jones and wife Emma, and Isaac Jones and wife Julie; sister, Charlene Willey and husband Nathaniel; sister-in-law, Jeannie Williams and husband Jimmy; sister-in-law, Gloria Purvis; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
