ROY CLINTON HALES

Graveside services for Roy Clinton Hales, 77, of Pineland will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025 in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. 

With heavy hearts, Roy, who left this world July 4, 2025 just shy of his 78th birthday.  He was a beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great grandfather whose legacy of love and strength lives on through the family he cherished.

Roy was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 10, 1947 to James Hersey and Margarete L. (Smith) Hales of Diboll.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969.

Roy's life was a test to quiet resilience, warm laughter and unconditional love.  He was the kind of man whose presence brought comfort; whose words carried wisdom and whose stories were shared like treasured gifts on the front porch.  He made each day count. He filled the corners of his life with love, kindness and the legacy of that love will continue to light the way for those he held dear.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Ah Lan "Helen" Hales of Pineland; three daughters, Lori Ann McGee and husband, Tim, of Jasper, Lisa Sargent and husband, Russell, of Pineland, and Leslie Hales of Houston; seven grandchildren, Sarah Kelley and husband, Reed, of Saltillo, AR, Andrew McCasland and wife, Felicia, of Saginaw, Dylan McCasland of Italy, Texas, Seth McCasland of Bowie, Chelsea Sargent of Pineland, Miya Garrett of Houston and Olivia Garrett, also of Houston; four great grandchildren, Kylie, Evelyn, Willow and Grant; and his best friend of 48 years, William "Corky" Cazort of Friendswood.

In lieu of flowers, Roy's family requests that donation instead be made to Hemphill Hornet Bass Club.
