It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted husband, father, papaw and friend Weldon Lamar Thomas, Sr., to all whose lives he touched, peacefully at his home on February 14th, 2025.
Funeral services for were held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church, FM 2024, Pineland, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Alford and Bro. Terry Lott officiating.
Burial followed services in Centerview Cemetery, 1020 Centerview Rd, Bronson, TX 75968
Weldon Lamar Thomas, Sr. was born on June 23, 1943, in the Centerview Community of Pineland, Tx to Willie Taylor Thomas, Sr. and Dollie Lott Thomas.
He was a lifelong resident of Sabine County. After serving 3 years in the US Air Force as an aviation fireman, he began a 32-year career with the Texas Department of Transportation followed by 15 years with the United Postal Service as rural carrier.
He loved God, standing firm in his faith, he was ordained as deacon March 1981. He taught Sunday School many years and provided an excellent example of a Christian husband and father.
Over the years he loved playing his guitar/mandolin and was lead guitarist for the former Gospel Four Group. He also enjoyed gardening and trapping.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Mary Teal Thomas of Bronson; sons, Weldon Lamar Thomas, Jr. of Bronson and John Brandon Thomas and his wife, Shannon, of Somerville, AL; daughter, Kena Waldrep and husband, Eric, of Jennings, LA; nine grandchildren, Haven, Colter, Logan, Braedyn, Jase, Tiffani, Angela (Michelle), Joee, Hannah; and seven great grandchildren, Miya, Laylie, Mason, ZenLee, MarLee, Addiya, and Chester.
