Funeral services for Lanny Dale "Butch" Jackson, 83, of Milam, Texas, were held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. He passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas. Born on June 5, 1941, in Corsicana, Texas, he was the son of Thomas Edward Jackson and Mary Frances Collins Jackson. Burial will took place at New Hope Cemetery with Justin Hanzel, J.C. Hanzel, Justin Simmons, Jaxson Schmidtt, Josh Jackson, and Kyle Jackson serving as pallbearers.
A lifelong resident of Milam, Butch worked as a construction superintendent for many years. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly feeding and watching deer, birds, and other wildlife. He also enjoyed running equipment, a pastime that reflected his hands-on approach to life.
Butch was preceded in death by his first wife, Gaynell Inman Jackson; his second wife, Marsha Brown Williams Jackson; his parents; his son, Jimmy Jackson; and his brothers, Buster Jackson and wife, Carolyn, and Gary Jackson and wife, Louise.
He is survived by his loving family: sons, Johnny Jackson and wife, Deanna, of Corsicana; Robert Jackson and Diane Short of Rusk; and Michael Kent Jackson (Little Man) of San Augustine; daughter, Patricia Jackson and Jay Bellett of Milam; stepdaughter, Krystal Fuller and husband, Cole, of San Augustine; brothers, Billy Jackson of Sherman, Tommy Jackson and wife, Teresa, of San Augustine, and Stanley Jackson and wife, Lillie, of San Augustine. Butch’s legacy also includes eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
