David Arthur Rhodes, Sr.

A memorial service for David Arthur Rhodes, Sr., of Hemphill, were held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Yellowpine Cemetery. He passed away at his residence on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the age of 82.  

David was born on November 10, 1942, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Charles Lucien Rhodes and Hannah Cope Rhodes. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a Financial Manager with Barclay's Financial before retiring. A former resident of Grapevine, Texas, David had made his home in Sabine County for the past three years.  

David attended services at St. Pius Catholic Church and found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. An avid golfer since his youth, he played every chance he got and participated in tournaments over the years. He also loved fishing and spent peaceful moments feeding birds, appreciating the beauty of nature around him.  

He is survived by his loving wife, Eva Ann Rhodes, of the Fairmount Community in Hemphill; his son, David Rhodes, Jr., also of Fairmount; his daughter, Sherra Michelle Rhodes Bowers of Austin; his brother, Larry Eugene Rhodes and wife, Eileen, of Nederland; his sister, Charlotte Ann North and husband, Don, of Fairmount; his sister-in-law, Julie Rhodes; and his cherished grandchildren, Robert Christian, William Henry, and Frances Ann. 

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home.
