Avor Nell Abbott

Funeral services for Mrs. Avor Nell McDaniel Bryan Abbott, age 83, of Broaddus, were held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Maynard Phillips officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery. She passed away Monday, December 30, 2024, at UT Medical Center Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

She was born November 20, 1941, in San Augustine County to parents Ethel (Evans) and James McDaniel. Mrs. Abbott was a lifelong area resident and member of Harvey Creek Baptist Church. She was a nurse's aide and worked several years at local nursing homes and also had worked for the U.S. Forest Service senior program. 

Her survivors include her daughter, Carla Rena Mangrum and husband James of Broaddus; sister, Margie Ann Morton of Broaddus; brother, Marty McDaniel of Broaddus; step-brother, Robert Johnson of San Augustine; step-sister, Kandi McWhorter of Beaumont; grandchildren, Brandon Mangrum of Huntington, Dustin Mangrum of Broaddus, Danielle Sanders of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Amanda Cravy of Nacogdoches; and five great-grandchildren.
